The University of Florida Gators compete as members of the Southeastern Conference in NCAA Division I FCS football and in NCAA Division I basketball. Florida is a public land-grant institution located in the city of Gainesville, Florida, midway between Tampa and Jacksonville. The school has an undergraduate enrollment of around 36,000. Florida has the distinction of being the only school in history to win both the unofficial NCAA Division I FBS football championship and the NCAA Division I men's basketball championship in the same academic year (2006-07).
