The University of Arkansas at Little Rock, or UALR, Trojans compete as members of the Sun Belt Conference in NCAA Division I basketball. The school has not sponsored football since its days as a junior college. UALR is a public institution located in the capital city of Little Rock, Arkansas. The school has an undergraduate enrollment of around 10,000.

UALR is located on the west side of midtown Little Rock, at the intersection of BUS US 67/70 (University Avenue) and AR 5 (Asher Avenue). Exit 131 off I-30 or exit 5B off I-630 are the exits for University Avenue; the campus is three miles north of I-30 and a mile south of I-630. Jack Stevens Center (5,600) is about a quarter-mile north of Asher Avenue, on West 28th Street just off University Avenue.

UALR's main rival nowadays is Arkansas State, their in-state conference rival.

Without question, the most notable figures in UALR history are longtime Los Angeles Laker guard Derek Fisher and former coaches Mike Newell and Wimp Sanderson. Newell led the Trojans to three NCAA tournament appearances and two trips to the NIT in his six years at the helm, including a visit to Madison Square Garden for the 1987 semifinals and a fourth-place finish. After Newell's departure, the program stumbled for a few years until Sanderson, the former coach at Alabama, stepped in and returned them to relevance during his four-year stint. Following Sanderson's retirement, however, the Trojans failed to see any post-season action for 15 years, finally returning to the spotlight in 2011.
