The Yankton College Greyhounds ceased operations in 1984 when the school closed due to financial problems. At the time, the school was a member of the South Dakota-Iowa Conference, competing in NAIA sports. Yankton was a private Church of Christ institution located in Yankton, South Dakota, about an hour southwest of Sioux Falls. The school was most recognizable as the alma mater of NFL All-Pro Lyle Alzado, and the campus is now the site of a federal prison camp.
