The Apprentice School, also known as Newport News Apprentice, Builders compete as members of the Atlantic Central Football Conference (1998-2010) in football. Because the school is not actually a college, it participates only as an affiliate member of NCAA Division III. The school sponsors basketball, competing in the United States College Athletic Association. Newport News Apprentice is, as its name implies, an apprentice school for shipbuilders located in Newport News, Virginia. The school has an enrollment of under 1,000.
