The Minnesota State University, Mankato, generally referred to as simply Minnesota State, Bulldogs compete as members of the North Central Conference (1922-2008) in NCAA Division II football and basketball. Effective in 2008, the school's teams will begin competing as members of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. Minnesota State, formerly "Mankato State", is a public institution located in Mankato, Minnesota, about 90 minutes southwest of Minneapolis. The school has an undergraduate enrollment of around 12,000.
