The Fairfield University Stags compete as members of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference in NCAA Division I basketball. The school has not sponsored football since 2002. Fairfield is a private Catholic (Jesuit) institution located in Fairfield, Connecticut, midway between New Haven and New York City. The school has an undergraduate enrollment of around 3,000.
