The Xavier University Musketeers compete as members of the Atlantic 10 Conference in NCAA Division I basketball. Xavier has not had a football team since 1971. Xavier is a private Catholic (Jesuit) institution located in Cincinnati, Ohio. The school has an undergraduate enrollment of around 4,000.
The campus is located in the Norwood area of Cincinnati, northeast of downtown. The tract centers around the intersection of Victory Parkway and Dana Avenue. From the north and east, Dana Avenue is the direct access from exit 5 of I-71; from the south and west, exit 5 leads to Montgomery Road, which intersects Dana Avenue two blocks from the interchange. Cintas Center (10,250) is located one block north of Dana Avenue, on Herald Avenue at the east edge of campus.
Xavier's chief rival is Cincinnati, whose campus is just a mile away. Only slightly less vicious is the rivalry with Dayton.
Xavier has sent 23 players to the NFL, including three-time Pro Bowl DL John Martinkovic and WR Dan Abramowicz. Sixteen Musketeers have made the trip to the NBA/ABA, a list including Tyrone Hill, Brian Grant, James Posey, David West, and Aaron Williams.
