The University of South Dakota Coyotes compete as members of the Great West Conference (2004-2013) in NCAA Division I FCS football and NCAA Division I basketball. In 2011, the basketball teams will join the Summit League; in 2012, the football team will join the Missouri Valley Football Conference. South Dakota is a public institution located in Vermillion, South Dakota, in the far southeastern corner of the state about 45 minutes south of Sioux Falls. The school has an undergraduate enrollment of around 6,000.
