The Bates College Bobcats compete as members of the New England Small College Athletic Conference in NCAA Division III football and basketball. They also participate in the C-B-B Conference with Colby and Bowdoin, two other members of the NESCAC. Bates is a private non-sectarian institution located in Lewiston, Maine, about a half-hour north of Portland. The school has an undergraduate enrollment of around 2,000.
