The Missouri Southern State University, generally just referred to as Missouri Southern, Lions compete as members of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association in NCAA Division II football and basketball. Missouri Southern is a public institution located in Joplin, Missouri, in the southwest corner of the state about two hours south of Kansas City. The school has an undergraduate enrollment of around 5,000.
