The Houston Baptist University Huskies compete as independents in NCAA Division I basketball as of 2007, having departed the Red River Athletic Conference and NAIA Division I at the end of the 2006-07 season. The school does not have a football team. Houston Baptist is a private Baptist institution located in southwest Houston, Texas. The school has an undergraduate enrollment of around 2000.
