The New York University Violets compete as members of the University Athletic Association in NCAA Division III basketball. The school has not sponsored football since 1960. New York is a private non-sectarian institution located in the Greenwich Village neighborhood of Manhattan in New York, New York. The school has an undergraduate enrollment of around 21,000.
