The Crichton College Comets compete as members of the TranSouth Athletic Conference in NAIA Division I basketball. The school does not sponsor women's basketball. Crichton, formerly known as "Mid-South Bible College", is a private non-denominational Christian institution located in Memphis, Tennessee. The school has an undergraduate enrollment of around 1,000. The school's teams have had numerous nicknames; "Saints" prior to 1985, "Crusaders" from 1985-1989, "Cougars" from 1989-1996, and "Cardinals" from 1996-2005, before finally settling on "Comets".
