FREEDOM
lyrics: J. Morse © 1986
Marching toward the village square
Bloodstained faces everywhere
The war has but begun, my son
But you've already begun to feel the fear
You've been oppressed for all these years
Blinded by ghosts of invisible fears
And now, when your chance has finally arrived
You shy away, afraid
You see the evil in good men's eyes
You hear the wails, and the anguished cries
That chaos brings, in difficult times
And you run and hide, afraid
Examine the progress that's been made
The evil ones have all been paid
For their treacherous, bloodthirsty raids
On the people they're trusted to oversee
And now, at last, you've all been freed
Although some of yours still lie and bleed
In freedom, some things will disappear
Including things that were never truly there...
To begin with
